Jan. 11th – Mar. 25th, 2012 – “Variations on a Theme: Wearables & Quilts” Susanne Staton creates all her Wearable Art vests using one pattern, altered to fit, that becomes her “canvas.” Susanne enjoys the entire creative process and hand-dyes most of the fabrics she uses. Susanne’s quilts are often original designs. Again, she uses a variety of techniques, including: hand-dyeing, painting with inks, broderie perse, embroidery, beading, and 3-dimensional elements.
Jan. 11th – Mar. 25, 2012 – “Embroidered Beauties: Old and New” The first floor of the Gaches Mansion will be covered with Embroidered Beauties: Old & New, a look at embroidered quilts over the past 200 years. We will have many examples of hand embroidery on hand but we will also feature a few fine examples of work done by artists in the computer age.
Jan. 11th – Mar. 25, 2012 Ten Years of Beaded Quilts–Thom Atkins Thom Atkins has worked in many mediums: painting, stained glass, clay and bronze sculpture, fabric, landscape, and beads. Having been introduced to beads in the 70’s; he has come back to them in the last seven years, using the Art Quilt as a canvas and has begun a search for a balance between beads and cloth, where each has an equal voice in the composition. He is currently using his love of color, organic motifs, flowers and landscape to create vivid bead encrusted Art Quilts.
February 18th, 2012 Fiber Fest - Point Roberts Weaving, spinning, felting, tapestry work, hand embroidery, quilting, sock darning, doll making, knitting. Local hand made arts for sale. Quilt raffle. March 23 and 24, 2012 – Creative Stitches

Sew a ‘Catch of the Day’ Bag
Participate in a cross-country project by making a “Catch of the Day” bay to be given as a gift to a

Fat Quarter Exchange
Here’s a new way to build a natural connection
among Canadian quilters, share experiences and
discover what you have in common. We’re asking
you to choose
Your favorite Fat Quarter, label it with your contact
information (address label), place the fabric and
label in a small zip lock bag and send it to the address below. These will be small gifts for the
delegates who, in turn, will be asked to make
something ‘interesting’ with their new treasure and
then contact the donor and let them know what was
made, maybe even share a picture. Who knows, you
might just connect with a new best friend!

Are you a quilter looking for a meaningful project to pour
your creative juices into? We are seeking donations of
unique handmade quilts to gift each of the 50 children we
will be accepting into the Somos Children’s Village in
Guatemala.
Quilt Specifications: Size 57”x75”: 100% cotton top and
flannel back. Batting – “Warm & Natural”, cotton or
bamboo (no poly or wool please). Please attach your label
to the back. Quilts need to be put in a plastic zipped up
bag for storage (until presentation to the child).
