    Angel Pin and Star Guidelines

The Fraser Valley Quilters’ Guild has created the Angel Pin and Star awards to recognize the effort and enthusiasm of members who contribute their time and energy to benefit the guild. Following are the guidelines for these awards:

Each year, hours toward pins are accumulated after 4 hours of required volunteer time. The total number of hours for the Angel pin is 20. Each additional block of 20 hours is rewarded with a Star. Thus, a total of 44 hours of volunteer time is required for an Angel pin and 1 star. Only one Angel pin will be awarded to an individual. There is no limit to the number of stars awarded to an individual. Members must be in good standing (i.e. her/his membership must be paid).

Each guild member will keep track of their own hours on a form provided by the vice-president or co-chairperson. When the required numbers of hours are accumulated, the member presents their tally sheet for review. The vice-president or co-chair must ensure the annual requirement of 4 hours is deducted, and then the pin or star is issued and recorded on the member’s tally sheet.

For special events, such as quilt shows, a flat number of hours will be awarded for volunteers. The number of hours will be determined prior to the start of the special event.

Members of the FVQG executive will receive a Blue Star for each year served on the executive. If the position is shared, each individual will receive a blue star.

Preemie quilts are allocated 6 hours of volunteer time. Volunteer hours may be accumulated by: helping to set up or dismantle the library, attending Sit and Stitch events, making quilts for ‘Cops for Cancer’, being part of the many people needed to keep an event running, making lots of preemie quilts. You can obtain Angel tally sheets from membership or from Vivia at the Pin Display table.

    Thank you,
    Vivia Nemeth.
