Ivan Sayers Fashion and Fabric Historian

Come enjoy a talk from Ivan Sayers, an internationally renowned costume historian. Ivan Sayers is well known in Vancouver's fashion community for his historical fashion shows and lectures. As curator for the Original Costume Museum Society, a group dedicated to preserving historical clothing from around the world, Sayers is able to bring expertise and humour to his presentations.

Ivan Sayers was the curator of history at the Vancouver Museum and has lectured extensively throughout Canada and the US.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month  (except July and August). Guests are always welcome.

The executive meetings are the first
Thursday of the month at Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre. The next Executive Meeting is Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

All Guild Members are welcome to attend the Executive Meetings.

Jane Ross' Baby Jane Quilt sample

Wishing you could sew a Dear Jane quilt – Jane A. Sickle’s 1863 Civil War Quilt but don’t have the time or are afraid of little blocks? Join the in-between class in January, February and March to complete a twelve-block Baby Jane wall hanging. Learn organizational tips for the small and large quilt. Patterns are mainly foundation piecing; extensive instructions and tips will be given. You must have your own copy of Brenda Manges Papadakis Dear Jane with you in class.

Space is limited to 12 you can sign up in November and December for this class from 1-4pm at a cost of $60

Jane has provided a sample for you to think about at the program table.

Gail Hunt's All-Machine Landscape Quilt

Saturday March 13, 9am - 3:30pm. Set up time from 8:30am. (Small wall-hanging) (6 hour workshop) Using a landscape design provided, students will learn to machine-piece their background, utilize a method of freezer paper appliqué by machine, and add detail using stitchery and the confetti method of "painting" with little fabric bits. Some guidelines
for machine quilting will be demonstrated. Level of Difficulty: Confident beginner. Students
should be comfortable with their machines and have tried free-motion stitching.
