May 2000 Block


"Reproduction Churn Dash"


12" block (12 ½ " unfinished)

Instructions
Use 1930's and 1940's reproduction fabric and ivory backgrounds to make this old-fashioned, simple block.

Cut:
  • One - 2 1/2" x 19" strip from rep. fabric
  • Two - 4 7/8" squares from rep. fabric, cut in half diagonally
  • One - 2 1/2 " by 19" strip from ivory fabric
  • Two - 4 7/8" squares from ivory, cut in half diagonally
  • One - 4 1/2" square from ivory

May 2000 sketchSew the two 19" strips together along the length.
From the resulting multi-strip, cut four - 4 1/2" blocks.
Sew the half square triangles together. Following the diagram, assemble each of the rows.
Finally, sew the 3 rows together.
Press according to the arrows in the diagram.
